About this role: As the Rural Community Outreach Coordinator you will represent The Hub in rural communities throughout Wood Buffalo. You will help create formal and informal opportunities for parents to meet other parents and share their experiences, build new friendships, and create support networks. You will create play-based learning activities for children and their families through early learning programs. With appropriate training, you will offer parent education and developmental screenings. Skills and Abilities:

· Knowledge of Indigenous history, culture, and traditions with a specific focus on Treaty 8

· Ability to foster collaborations with agencies, communities, leaders, and Elders

· Knowledge of rural community resources, or ability to find information required, to ensure appropriate information and support are provided.

· Excellent communication skills and including facilitating to groups of children and adults

· Comfortable facilitating groups that explore intergenerational trauma and mental health

· Ability to incorporate local culture into programs in a culturally sensitive manner

· Ability to act calmly and quickly to de-escalate situations in a professional manner

· Knowledge of Child Development

· Work independently, yet as a strong team member

· Self-starter with the ability to develop partnerships with key players in the rural communities.

· Respect and understanding of FOIPP legislation

Strong driving abilities; comfortable driving to rural communities in all reasonable road conditions

Responsibilities:

Programming

· Work collaboratively with community leaders and agencies to plan, coordinate, and facilitate family support and early learning programing in rural communities.

· Develop programming that includes child development programming, Moms Matter Postpartum Support programming, Circle of Security, and more.

· Ensure all Family Support programming reflects the needs of the community via partnerships, needs assessments, surveys, and communication with community members.

· Ensure programming adequately reflects best practices for Indigenous programming and the culture of each individual community

General

· Contribute to workplace belief of respect for team members and participants.

· Contribute to workplace daily tasks including cleaning, supply order and pick up, and centre safety checks

· Attend June Bug Family Festival and other community events as requested.

· Follow all policies and procedures as outlined by the Hub Family Resource Centre

· Collaborate to orient new staff members

· Diligently follow vehicle policies and procedures to ensure safe travel to and from rural communities

· Responsible for ensuring timely vehicle maintenance

Community Engagement

· Participate in community roundtables, coalitions, etc. as deemed relevant by The Hub

· Collaborate with community partners, stakeholders, and agencies to enhance programming and ensure requirements are met

Data Collection and Reporting

· Collect and prepare quantitative and qualitative data, as required by the Executive Director.

· With support from Executive Director, evaluation and data entry within required timelines

· Monthly statistics/report

· Daily documentation of referrals made to outside agencies and community resources

· Ensuring timesheet is complete and submitted on time

· Ensuring vacation and leave requests are submitted with adequate time to process and staff coverage arranged.

Certifications:

· Clear RCMP & Child Intervention Check

· Driver’s Abstract

· First Aid

· Completion of, or willingness to obtain: Training specific to supporting Indigenous populations, Triple P Positive Parenting, Circle of Security, Moms Matter, ASQ-3 and ASQ-SE developmental Screening, and other relevant trainings

Job Type: Full-Time

Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday. Some evenings and weekends required with possible over nights in Fort Chipewyan.

Pay: From $32.00 to $34.00 per hour
