The Family Resource Network offers inclusive and accessible, community-based programs that serve the entire family unit ages 0-18.

The Hub Family Resource Centre is proud to be a part of the Wood Buffalo Family Resource Network. Family Resource Networks are a province-wide Government of Alberta initiative offering programs and services that promote healthy environments and positive experiences during infancy, the early years of childhood and adolescence. In Wood Buffalo, the Family Resource Network is a partnership between The Hub Family Resource Centre, the YMCA of Northern Alberta, and Taproot Community Support Services that offers inclusive and accessible family-focused, child and youth-centred, community-based programs and services for families and children and youth ages 0-18.

Our Systems Navigator will help connect your children and family to appropriate supports and ensure access to opportunities and resources for improved health, wellness and connection. Our family-focused programming is free and available for all Wood Buffalo residents living in both urban and rural communities.

Family Connect: Home Visitation

YMCA Home Visitation offers parents one on one parenting strategies and skills for parents to strengthen family functioning and provides support to parents-to-be and families with children under 6 years of age. Once eligible for the program, services can be provided until a child reaches six years of age. Services can be provided a few times per week depending on the needs of the family.

Family Resilience
Program

This program provides targeted and intensive supports for families with children 7-18 years of age. The in-home family support is to increase the family’s skills and abilities to manage day-to-day parental stressors and to enhance each family’s ability to care for their children. The program focuses on various areas but is not limited to: communication skills, sibling rivalry, conflict resolution, parental styles, child behavioral issues, co-parenting, parent-teen mediation, positive strategies with difficult behaviors and more.

Caregiver Education

Caregiver Education for parents/caregivers of children ages 0-18 is offered individually and in group programs. The Hub offers various parenting programs including Primary Care Triple P Positive Parenting for families experiencing everyday parenting challenges such as toddler tantrums or teen alcohol use, Family Transitions Triple P Positive Parenting for families experiencing separation and divorce, Kids Have Stress Too for caregivers looking for fun ways to help their children manage everyday stressors effectively.

The Hub Family Resource Centre (the Hub) offers fun child development and social support programs for you and your child to engage in together. These programs are a great way to meet other caregivers and children and get connected with your community! The Hub Family Resource Centre also offers online and in person screenings for children ages 0-5 to help you better understand and support your child’s development.
